Galictio will launch the last barge for Uruguay at the end of the month

The contract sealed by Galictio in Uruguay is about to come to an end. Currently, the company is completing the third of the barges whose manufacturing it contracted for the country's shipping company Montes de Plata. The ship is already 90% complete and work is currently being accelerated, since, if the company's forecasts are met, it will be launched in a ceremony to be held on the 26th.

The ships, which will be used to transport wood, are 100 meters long, 16 meters wide and have the capacity to store about 15,000 tons of product.
After almost three years of development the work in the country, Galictio's intention - now fully owned by Indasa - is to remain in the country, which is why it is looking for other possible orders with which to continue to its presence in the Uruguayan naval.

In this sense, it is waiting for three tenders that have been opened to be resolved, some of which could be awarded immediately. At the moment, however, there are no guarantees of more work in Uruguay.

Operator training

In the country, Galictio, in addition to manufacturing the barges, has carried out personnel qualification work, since due to the commitments acquired there, the order implicitly involved technological transfer and training of operators to carry out the construction of the barges. ships.
